Description:
|
Book is Good in no dust jacket. Paperback binding, First Edition,
Oliver & Boyd, Edinburgh, 1930. Sound and decent first printing paperback, notable both as only the second ever appearance in print of 5 poems by Muriel Spark, then Muriel Camberg at age 12. These are reproduced from an earlier appearance in the Gillespie's school magazine of that year. The poems are "to Everybody", the Sea, the Victims, the Winding of the Horn and Time. The Buchan foreword is a page and a half, 64 pages on acid free laid-effect paper, proper sewn binding, brown thick paper covers with black half-tone artwork by Nellie Stevens, also of Gillespies. There is some wear and fraying of the backstrip at the base, but pretty decent given age. There are some old wrinkled food-spill spots at top left, staining through to underside, and general age darkening, the text block is clean with a few freckles on endpapers, free of inscr. Overall a decent copy of a scarce book.
