The wrapper and the book pages are quite yellowed, though probably due to acid content of the paper as there is no tobacco smell evident. Unpriceclipped, although the GBP 15.90 price does not actually refer to the cost of this volume, but to what it would cost at the time to buy them separately. Nice imitation leather yellow boards, with gold writing. 431pp. Size 8vo

Some foxing near endpapers, and offsetting of leather covering onto edges of title page. All leaves present, apparently, though no blank flyleaf. The leather binding is original, and is cornerworn with raised bands on the spine, very plain. The binding is still sound, with the leather in the hinges just starting to split near the ends, about an inch or so in one case. There are nice steel engravings at the start of each season, four in all. 216pp. Size 12mo

Original binding has complete splitting of the leather hinges, but the chords are all still holding firm, as are the nice coloured whorly endpapers, so the binding is servicable if handled carefully. Raised bands, spine nibbled away at bottom, gilt tooling in compartments still discernable though spalled away in several places. Author not known, though spine label says Oeuvre de Monte, the Approbation at rear is signed Demoncrif, and the Privilege du Roi is signed Sainson, Huart then Cavelier. The text block is clean and tight, with red titling on title page, and a nice engraved frontis. Red edges to pages. Text in French, 365pp, all leaves present. Size 16mo
