Description: Book is Good in no dust jacket. Half leather binding, First Edition, James Cundee, London, 1806. Tight supple leatherbound single volume, being the frist two volumes only of the four volume set bound as one. The left half of the fold-out frontis to volume 2 is torn away, the rest of the various plates seem to be in good order though no way to check as there is no contents list for plates. There are a few stains at the edges, general dustiness, and the binding and hingea re strong The leather spine hinges are splitting and rubbed, but tyhese are not threatening to worsen. The boards are marbled paper covered, very worn, the lether spine has a handsome red title panel and gilt banding, somewhat worn and splitting at the head and foot. Attractive sumtuous leather binding is supple witherate wear at spine ends, no splits or such. Thick book once had a clasp but the clasp is now missing leaving three punch holes which have smoothed over. Binding tight and sound with nice doble gilt keylines on inner edges, six raised bands and gilt spine titling. Gilt ruling on board edges, text edges gilt. Marbled endpapers, 4 by 5-3/4 by 1-3/4 inches, rounded corners. Unpaginated, thin india paper so must be getting on for 1000 leaves. Book has a lovely feel, must be good for another 100 years. "The Book of Common Prayer and Administration of the Sacraments and other rites and ceremonies of the church according to the use of The Church of England together with The Psalter or Psalms of David pointed as they are to be sung or said in churches, And the form or manner of making ordaining and consecrating of Bishops Priests and Deacons."
